Row, row, row...

...your 2-person kayak. J's favorite new song and one of M's favorite new pastimes. Went for a family kayak outing on the Woodard Reservoir today. More turtles and M realized she loves to trail her hand outside the boat in the water.

More kayaking, some horse(shoe)-ing around at Hawk Mountain and another campfire this evening made for a wonderful VT day. (See pic of our little ringer below).

We don't want to leave tomorrow!

Hiking the Buttermilk Falls

Happy puppies. Smiling M. A good morning.

Is this Heaven? No, it's Vermont.

Little Sailor

Well, "little kayaker" is more like it. M loved the family kayak on Echo Lake this afternoon. We saw turtles, ducks and fish and she amazingly stayed in the boat for 30 mins. J was beside himself with happiness. More kayaking tomorrow!!

Life's a Beach

Well, it's a lake anyway...

M made fresh tracks and had a ball digging up the shoreline this morning.

Back for round 2 and family kayaking this afternoon.

Hike in Gold Creek

Bliss.

The Big Day - Part IV

Hit up the Woodstock Farmer's Market on the Town Green and loved every minute of the live music. Also, left with VT maple syrup, handmade jams, grass-fed beef, artisan cheese, local breads and farm-fresh veggies. Yummy.

M's post-nap hairstyle was a BIG (tall??) hit on the Green (you'll see why below!).

We topped off the day with some Ramunto's pizza - our local favorite (we'll cook all the great local stuff tomorrow!).

The Big Day - Part III

Tuckered out on our way to Woodstock.

The Big Day - Part II

Next up was a scenic one-hour drive north to Waterbury, home of Ben & Jerry's!

On the way, we stopped at Glen Moss Falls ("Hi, water...big water").

B&J's was a big hit. M loved the cows, the playground and, you guessed it, the ice cream.

The Big Day - Part I

Big day, big day today.

Started off the morning with a family hike on Killington mountain. The gondola was under repair (disappointing), but our hike was gorgeous!

Another Amazing Day in VT

We had a wonderful, action-packed day here in Plymouth.

We started with some (unplanned) off-roading on our way to our morning hike. Long story short - the off-roading was fun, but the trail was basically gone due to Hurricane Irene last year.

So, then we headed to another road to pick up a new trail. Road was closed, so we decided to just hike it. Saw why it was closed about a 1/4 mile in - so much of the road has been washed away by Irene. Still feeling the effects a year later.
M loved it. A very good hiker. Mesmerized by the trail and the flowers. Amazed by the water pools, frogs and tadpoles.

After running around all afternoon, another walk, some kayaking and a campfire (roasted marshmallows and hot dogs...yummy!), M just wanted some cuddle time.

Making it to the Summit

Put on our hiking shoes this morning and climbed the Echo Vista Trail at Camp Plymouth.

M especially liked the hike (relaxing for her) and the view.

Finished off the morning with some playground time and then hit the lake this afternoon with the dogs.

A FULL day. Is it bedtime yet???

Sensing a Vacation Theme

On the Town Green in Woodstock, VT. Chocolate chip on a cone.

Tuckered out after the Bondville Fair

Sunday, we went to the oldest fair in VT.

Petting zoo, ponies, live band, clown (didn't scare her) and balloon animals. The fair is fun...but tiring!

Exhibit A:

Adventures at Okemo - Saturday

M was too short for bungee jumping or the zip line, but loved the playground and chasing butterflies.

Ice Cream Pit Stop

Well, lots of traffic and one overturned tractor trailer later, we made it to "our" Stewart's for some coffee and ice cream.

M decided to "double fist" it, which for her means attacking the cone with both her mouth and a spoon. It was gone in about 3 mins.

Ahhh...VT.

We are taking shifts driving...

Look out if you are on the NYS Thruway!

VT Vacation Has Started

T-Minus 5 hours to the Green Mountain State (or 8-9 hours as we are traveling with 2 dogs and a 2 year old!)

Can't wait...
