Vermont - Day 2

Sledding!!

After a slow start, M got in a few good runs and loved it. "Let's do it again!"

There's hope for skiing...

Vermont - Day 1

Well, I guess technically it's Day 2, but our first day was spent getting up to the cabin. M did great, by the way, but likes to stop about every 45 mins or so for a bathroom break. So, yeah, it was a long trip!

But, here we are on Day 1/2 at Taylor Farm. We got to ride in the horse-drawn sleigh (pulled by two new draft horses, Andy and Jane) and see piglets that were only one hour old! M loved the cows, goats and chickens and we loved being back in VT.

VT love to all (we got you all maple syrup),

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like...

...Thanksgiving and Christmas time...wait, what?!? Already??

Well, at least we're having a TON of fun with all the holiday hectic-ness.

First, here is the Thomas-the-Train photo from Halloween that captures maximum cuteness. Of course, it does not capture the fact that once M got into the school auditorium and saw all the other costumes, she decided she was not going to make the walk across the stage. Still, thanks to all the troopers who came to watch her be a spectator!

Now, our next family adventure was a new sidewalk and fence. Much needed, as we all know, due to our track record of ripping off car bumpers and getting cars totaled due to their street parking. Anywhooo...here's some pics of the work in progress and after the fact:

Now, before Thanksgiving was upon us, we had several fun, fun, fun leaf playing sessions. M decided she would play in / with / on the leaves where ever she could find them...

Then, it WAS Thanksgiving...and we were thankful beyond words. We were also cold at the Thanksgiving Day Parade, but our first adventure down to the parade route was a huge success! M even got to meet Mrs. Claus.

Our annual day-after-Thanksgiving tradition with S&S marked a big first this year - they went with M to her very first movie! Frozen in 3D (kids these days!). Then, we decorated the Christmas tree. Those pros had it all decked out in 20 minutes and a great time was had by all.

To cap off the holiday weekend, our elf from the North Pole arrived. M has decided that his name is "Ribbon" (although K was hoping for Elfis Presley!) and the Christmas holiday season officially began at our house (this was marked by the beginning of our daily advent calendar gifts - first up, Minnie Mouse Christmas shirt):

Christmas kisses to all

September & October...flew by!

Wow...well, good news is that school is going very well for M. She loves her teachers and all her "school friends." Flip-Flop the guinea pig continues to be a hit, as does the library, the playground and art. In fact, M just told us this week that she's going to go to school more...like "Fridays, too." It's a good thing!

So, September and October have flown by before our eyes. House projects continue - painting and the new back railings are now complete and the front fence is in-progress. The new driveway apron/curb and sidewalk are also slated for overhaul in the next few weeks. Whew!

M continues to get taller, bigger and talk to us more and more. Here are some pics of our last few weeks:

Climbing the "fish" structure at one of her favorite playgrounds - all by herself!

At a fall festival in Roxborough. The moon bounce was a "no go", but M really wanted "pictures of me with the big pumpkins!"

M was very proud of her drawing of a bear. (In fact, she apparently ROAR-ed so much at school that day that our teachers sent us an email...they said it was "cute", but it must've been a LOT of roaring!)

We made our first entrance into the private school birthday party circuit...RI-DIC-U-LOUS! This was one of the (three!) ponies there for rides.

We have painted at least 10 pumpkins so far this season...a big favorite!

After M was so brave getting her vaccination, she got to pick out "one toy." Well played, M...well played.

Here's the infamous forehead bandaid fashion statement. She rocked this look for nearly three days and when we were (finally!) able to pull off the bandaid, part of her eyebrows came with it. :-)

Pumpkin fun at Merrymeade Farm - first time!

All that fun makes M tired!

With lots of fall love,

M's First Day of School: GFS Edition

Another first - the first day of "new school" for M (GFS).

She did wonderfully...apparently, she LOVES Flip Flop, the classroom guinea pig, and the playground is a big hit. Here's hoping she's as excited to go tomorrow.

Summer Vacation 2013 - Day Nine

Day Nine gave us a gorgeous morning and the C girls got to go out kayaking with J on the lake. (Bonus points to J for jumping in the lake when G lost her special rock!).

The rest of the day mostly consisted of the long trek back home, but just wanted to note that M was a trooper. We sang "I had a little turtle" about 8,435 times (give or take a few) and M caught up on some iPad viewing. An ice cream stop and a Dunkin' Donuts jaunt later, we were pulling in to home sweet home.

Already counting the days to the next visit...

Summer Vacation 2013 - Day Eight

Today was the quintessential VT day - we spent it exploring the countryside with the C family.

First, we went to the farmer's market in Londonderry and sampled more cheese than was really necessary (but it was oh-so-good). We bought fresh pickles, veggies and breads, as well as some of the aforementioned cheese, and then headed off to the playground to get out some energy bursts from the girls.

After, it was on to a family favorite - Taylor Farm. It was an especially fun day at the farm, as a sow had delivered 7 piglets the night before ("baby piggies!" squealed M when she saw them...she then proceeded to try to climb in the pen to give them "rubbies." The momma pig was not having that and we were able to stop her before it got ugly!).

In addition to the pigs, there were chickens, cows and, of course, Jerry the angry donkey (he only likes kids, no adults). We gave Jerry his space while the girls fed the cows hay and threw apples to the big old pig that escaped from the barn before we left. Everyone bought more cheese (!) and maple syrup and we headed off toward home.

A scenic drive later, we had stopped at our favorite butcher in Chester and were laden with meats for dinner. But, before feasting, we worked off some calories with a hike at Camp Plymouth and the lower loop of the Echo Vista Trail. It was just after some heavy midday rain and the forest was cool and calm. M loved exploring and wading in the creek was a big favorite.

Another family dinner and campfire made for happy bellies and tired campers. After the girls went to bed, the oh-so-crazy adults broke out some board games and generally just reveled in being together and catching up.

Perfection...

Summer Vacation 2013 - Day Seven

Day Seven (Friday) was a pretty relaxing day in VT.

K went for a run (with Tuscany in tow). K, J and M all went out in the kayak on the lake for a few minutes - literally. M likes the shoving off and returning to the boat launch, but has little patience for long, leisurely trips in between.

So, J and then K did their own solo kayaking loops around Lake Amherst. It was a gorgeous day - 75 degrees, sunny, blue skies with fluffy, white clouds. Just perfect. Also, the lake was like glass. Crystal clear...so much so that even the 20-foot depths looked close enough to touch.

That night, we lit up another roaring campfire and the C family arrived from Boston. M was very excited (and not only because they brought her birthday gifts). Roasted marshmallows and s'mores abounded and a good time was had by all.

Summer Vacation - Day Six

Enjoying more beach time today and due to the cooler temps (70-75 degrees), we found that we had the beach all to ourselves!

M made her very own sandcastle:

Family feet pic summer 2013!

In the afternoon, we set up the "hippo pool" and M had a blast just hanging out in the yard:

We are also finding out that M is really quite the climber - the cabin's lofts are her new favorite play areas!

Lots of love from VT,
K, J, M, T & T
