Girls Weekend in VT

Ok, so this was actually TWO weekends ago, but better late than never, right?

There was some down time (check out M's mesmerized stare upon seeing The Little Mermaid for the first time!), some farm time and lots of love & fun. Thank you Auntie J, M and G!

M's First Friend Birthday Party

M celebrated a preschool friend's 3rd birthday today - her first friend birthday party! There was an outdoor egg hunt, pizza (we had to stop M at 2 pieces), and cake (frosting everywhere!). All in all, a great morning.

Then, this afternoon we officially retired M's high chair and she got her new table set. The rainbow colors match so nicely with our kitchen, no?

The first weekend away...

...we all survived!

Here is evidence that we thought of M the whole time we were gone. We were the only people on bikes in New Orleans wearing helmets. Seriously...the only ones!

We don't want to be THOSE parents...

...but we did want to share a big milestone - M is using the potty. We are still in fits-and-starts (she totally gets the concept, can hold it, etc., but has little to no interest), but big progress recently.

Also, school is a winner. She's loving it and even getting into routines (standing in line? Gasp!).

Tie that altogether with the fact that she's talking a blue streak and it's fun times at our house these days. Loving every minute of it!

School Days

So, happy to report that M loves school so much that the only tears she sheds are when we leave (as opposed to morning drop off)!

We've also just completed our first private school "play date" (read: interview), so she may be enrolled in the fall.

We shall see.

Wow time is flying!!!

And...we're breathing again!

Whew! It was a GREAT first day of school for M. The only stress was apparently on her parents' end.

M was at first a bit skeptical of Daddy leaving her with her new friends and teacher, Miss Stephanie, but on the second try it went smoothly. We hear that a few minutes after J departed, M realized this and got a bit upset. After Miss Stephanie told her that Mommy and Daddy would be back to pick her up after lunch, M thought about it for a few seconds and went off to play. Well done, baby girl.

K picked her up after lunch and M was having so much fun, she just waved to K at the door ("Hi, Ma!") and kept on eating her lunch with her new friends. After having to get M moving out the door ("C'mon...Daddy's outside waiting to see you!"), the first day came to a successful close.

As we drove away, M gave a "Bye, kids!" to her new friends.

Here's hoping that Day 2 goes just as smoothly on Tuesday!

1st Day of School!

M just left for her first day of school. It's only a 1/2 day, but still will feel like the LONGEST day of our lives. (Joking...sorta.)

Tis the season...for updating the blog!

We know, we know. It's been WAY too long since our last post.

But, as you all are well aware, the holidays can be...well...ummm...hectic.

So, here's a Vermont posting to kick things off. In theory, we should have some "free" time this week in between winter jaunts and adventures to post some more...we'll see!

So, this was the culprit behind out two days of no power and no heat. It still looks just like this, but at least the power is back (this was a tree in our neighbor's yard - 3 houses away).

Quick weekend in VT

M helped us drive up there for our quick 1.5 day stay (still amazingly relaxing and scenic!)
