It's a New Year...2011...when did that happen? Wasn't it just, like, 2004???
Anyway, with a new year, comes new beginnings, important firsts, new projects and even more joy than last year (if that's possible). In a big development and leap forward, M is now venturing into the world of solid foods. Her initial journeys have been only to the safe territories of bananas and sweet potatoes, but the exotic locale of avocados awaits...here's a photo of her very first dining experience:
She's also been napping and sleeping like a champ in her "big girl" crib. This means not only actual sleeping, but also enjoying the acrobatics and yoga-like poses M is able to wiggle her way into - see exhibit A:
(Her feet were sticking out much further, but we were laughing too hard to get the photo right away).
And, of course, in even bigger news we just experienced our first "kid Christmas." It is, indeed, a different animal. M loved every minute of it and ate her way through bags, bows and tissue paper like a champ.
(We're not so sure she's a "headband and bows" type of girl, MomMom!)
M seemed to just know that these festivities were all about her ("Santa who?") and that was totally fine with her. It meant lots of fun with all of her grandparents and some epic naps on shoulders (loves them...thanks PopPop!):
Then, the snow came and while this delayed our trip to VT by a day, it also made an introduction to her Southern Cousins possible - she LOVED them!
Finally, up in VT, M got to feel and taste snow - so far, she seems like a mountain girl. We're hoping to have her out on the ski mountains next year. In the meantime, we're working on strength training:
(Yes, that thing weighs about a pound and, yes, she picked it up all by herself!)
And on balance exercises:
Gotta get ready to hit the slopes!
We also were lucky enough to squeeze in a visit with Auntie J in NH!
All in all, a wonderful two weeks...
Giddy-ily,
K, J and M
T&T, too.
