Blue Bids Adieu...To a Point!
Yes, friends, we are making progress on the 1st floor. Of course, that means it looks/gets worse (WAY worse) before it gets better. Check out the evidence:
Of course, we are moving forward - we have stamped structural engineer plans and schematics (big step), the plumber is starting prep work tomorrow and the carpenter has ordered the 6-8 additional steel beams we need to add to the house's foundation/structural support system. You know...normal, easy stuff (Argh!).
We have also finished off the rewiring of the 2nd floor and are installing the fans and chandeliers tomorrow (yeah!) and are almost done rewiring the 1st floor. There is no longer ANY old wiring or knob and tube in the whole house...we estimate there was miles! Plus, it will be nice to have 10+ outlets in every room...having NO electricity in whole sections and floors of the house over the past year and half has made us greedy.
We're moving in lock-step with Pipsqueak's arrival timeline and - realistically - the finishing work for the kitchen will all come together AFTER he/she joins us. But, our top priority is to have the 1st floor rewired, replastered, drywalled and painted so that at least it's all contained and cleaned before Pipsqueak comes home. Fingers (and paint brushes) crossed...and...come over anytime!
Home Stretch-ingly,
K&J
